Spectacular Sunday

If I were on a one way ticket to Mars, what would I miss the most about our blue planet?

I believe the answer for me, would be-

Everything.

‘Everything’ is self explanatory, so for the purposes of refining this list, I will select one very important environmental location that I would struggle to live without-

Blue Sky’s, Blue Water and Warm Yellow Sand

 My Soul food

A place where freedom can be found in a small sniff of ocean air,

and peace welcomes me in every wave break.

Days like today…

‘I’m perched on the couch with my feet up.

It’s midday on Sunday afternoon.

I have a cup of tea in my hand, and I’m savouring every single mouthful.

My next move?

I wonder. A nap? Another cup of tea?

My head feels a little heavy from the exertion this morning.

3.8km swim
56km cycle
5km run

Although I miscalculated a tad in the first leg of the swim…and we ran less than 5 km as a result of our human skin transforming into that of a lovely crisp roast turkey in the Cairns heat.

A little sustenance to follow-Eggs Benedict with Salmon, spinach and avocado, Cappucinno X 2 –

Some post card paradise for desert to tantalise the senses in the stunning Palm Cove

and some brilliant company to share it all with.

What a special morning

Cheers

Next move = Nap with my grumpy dog :)’

  1. What a beautiful looking place. I can well imagine why anybody would miss it. I think if I ever had to leave Earth, the main thing I would miss (barring the obvious: family, friends and doughnuts) would be the sky. I like it blue.

      1. I remember my teacher at high school saying something about light getting scattered in the atmosphere, which just shows how little he knew. The sky is obviously blue because it has to stay up all the time. It must be exhausted.

    1. Hi Eric,
I do indeed! I’m doing a 70.3 Half Iron man in June, minus the run. Swim and bike for me this year! I attend swim squad 3 times a week, and cycle on the weekends. I run on and off.
      and you?

      1. Used to, as in past tense. I competed seriously for four years (Sprint and International/Olympic distances). The running (which I never enjoyed) took its toll on my joints. Now I just cheer on friends. Here’s to your continued enjoyment and success, Nicole!

    1. Yes Ngobesing, it is lovely, but then again, you live in Africa don’t you?

Africa is my favourite place in the world. My husband comes from Zimbabwe so we make the Journey back there every couple of years. A couple of weeks perched on a houseboat cruising Lake Kariba is as close to heaven as I’ve ever been. I’ll never forget the sweet sound of the fish eagle, the Elephants feeding on the grassy banks of the Lake, the hippos laughing in unison and the Lion roar at night…and to top it off, weather permitting, we sleep under the umbrella of an African night sky.

The feeling living in Africa gave me has never left me

      Thanks for reading,

      Cheers Nicole

      1. I think we all have a tendency to see the green grass on the other side of the fence. Sometimes, it is indeed greener, but most of the time, it’s an optical illusion. Lovely chatting to you!
