EXHAUSTION BEYOND MEASURE
This photo says it all.
David Martin. Absolutely exhausted. They have now crossed into Kenya, and are broken, but going strong.
What amazing mental strength these athletes must require in order to endure such conditions-little to no sleep, heat, abusive locals, and rough roads, to name a few. They remain focused, but you have to wonder what they are thinking in their private moments.
Sounds like they had a rough time in Ethiopia, interesting perspective.
COMMS FROM MARK BLEWETT
“Ethiopia is a beautiful place. Lush and green and abundant. Yet a lot of the locals have abused us ,thrown stones at us ,hit us. This place is a perfect example of how international aid and hand outs have ruined Africa . So many poor people wanting and expecting a white skin to give them money . Small kids the only word they know is money and give . Sad , useless country with huge potential . That’s the feeling I get here. Apart from that we had a tough day on the bike with little more than tracks and crumbled roads for 7 hours. Tomorrow we are in Kenya !”

These are the roads they had to cycle on for 7 hours. It makes sticking to targets very tricky.
